Does sea moss eliminate mucus?

It is possible that sea moss can eliminate mucus. However, there is not much in the way of medically backed evidence and research that has been done to prove this for sure.

That being said, it has been used as a way of eliminating mucus for many years in many places around the world, especially in the coastal areas of the Atlantic ocean in Europe and North America.

The reason it is thought to be so good at clearing mucus is that it has expectorant properties. Expectorants are also known as mucoactive agents and their purpose is to break up and loosen mucus in your chest. A cough syrup or cough candy would be classed as an expectorant.

Sea moss is also what makes carrageenan. Carrageenan could be used as a soothing agent to help any pain that you have as a result of your cold such as a sore throat. The properties it has may also be antiviral, helping to fight the virus that causes the cold.

As well as this, it has been proven that sea moss, and carrageenan by default, is very high in terms of nutritional content. They are full of antioxidants and also have vitamins and minerals that all work in tandem to improve your health.
